I am blessed. I truly am. I have the love of my husband, family and friends. I have more than enough food to eat. I have a roof over my head. I get to play with clay and fibre to create what I want to create.

Monika's goat project - goat with ladybugs

So I've decided to give back a little. When I sell any of my ladybug earrings and pins as well as my tree frog and ladybug name pins,
I will donate the entire proceeds from the sale of each towards buying a goat for a needy widow and the children in her care, in Africa.
I will also donate $5 from the sale of any of my art that contains a ladybug - be it faery doors, bird houses, or felted tapestries...

In rural Uganda, everybody wants a goat. They’re easy to care for, take up little space, provide milk, and they have 2 to 3 offspring each year. The income from raising and selling goats and their milk will provide money for much needed food, clothing and education that will provide this generation and those to come with the education, resources and tools to survive and thrive.

I have helped the Canadian Hunger Foundation send 17 goats to Africa! The CHF has closed its doors July, 2015, but I have discovered a wonderful organization called Global Friends Foundation. GFF believes that we all share this big beautiful world and seeks to empower children, and their communities, to be self-sustaining.

What I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE about GFF is that the organization is run entirely by volunteers and they have set up a G.O.A.T. (Gaining Opportunities to Achieve & Triumph) project just for me... but anyone can get involved!   See www.GFFGOAT.CauseVox.com.

$125 provides a vulnerable household with a goat and, more importantly, the support to care for it.

To date, I have already sent 20 goats to Africa with Global Friends Foundation!

I will continue to support this project whenever anyone buys one of my ladybug or frog pins or anything I make that has a ladybug in or on it. If you are interested, please contact me

Do you like this idea? You can buy your own goat through GFF, go to www.GFFGoat.CauseVox.com

37 GOATS and counting .... !

Thanks so much for your support!!

About Global Friends Foundation...

The Global Friends Foundation supports orphaned and vulnerable children around the world. By removing barriers imposed by extreme poverty, GFF empowers individuals and communities to become self-sustaining. With the help of Monika Schaefer we are proud to introduce our latest program,
GOAT – Gaining Opportunities to Achieve and Triumph.
Goats are so much more than cute farm animals. Their milk provides an ongoing source of protein for children, their waste fertilizes gardens, and, through the sale of offspring, they deliver precious income that can be used for other essentials like school, food and shelter. Donating five goats to a community at a time, GFF provides goats to widows caring for more than three children as well as schools in rural areas. Global Friends is Canadian charitable organization run entirely by volunteers. To learn more, please visit www.GlobalFriends.ca

Why Goats? I have the nickname G.O.A.T. at the Burlington Potters’ Guild, where I’ve been very involved in guild activities since I joined in 1998. It stands for Goddess of All Things. It’s hardly true, but the acronym’s a fun handle and over the years I’ve developed a bit of a thing for goats as well... :-)
